Durobar a brand of Duroplastic a privately owned Company which employs around 120 people. Originally the company started as manufacturer of light weight high performance windsurfing, surfing, paddle ski and any water sport equipment. It moved from manufacturing these sport craft to the supply of composite materials such as Epoxies, Carbon Fibres and Fiberglass / Resins and stopped making watersport products.
The company moved from just being a supplier of composite materials toward supplying translucent roof sheeting when it built its own fiberglass roofing machine in 1996. In 1999, the company developed a range of specialized stand alone high end Sanitaryware called Paradyne and Pallazo. It achieved a number of large projects in hotel and private residences (including Richard Branson’s home in Caribbean). In 2000, with rapid growth of Casinos being constructed in South Africa, the company formulated a wide range of polymer modified cementitious products to supplement their plastic composite called Terrasol. During 2003 Duroplastic became the Southern African distributor for International Polycarbonate Manufacturer. Duroplastic is now one of the largest multinational polycarbonate distributors manufacturers, supplying the retail and construction industry.
Duroplastic has built up a very solid reputation in a broad range of industries and is one of the longest established South African companies, supplying composite materials to the Southern African market. The Company’s head office and manufacturing is situated in its own premises of over 10000m2 in Brackenfell, Western Cape. There are also branches in Johannesburg, George, Durban and Port Elizabeth
